i do not know the universe
i do not know the universe
i don’t think that it knows me
Just a brief glimmer bright
from one spark of moonlight
in a vast expanse of deep eternal sea
i do not know my purpose
i don’t know my allotted time
i seek my soul for what I lack
then give all the pieces back
for all is borrowed and never truly mine
i do not know tomorrows
nor what promises they hide
i set my sails by winds of change
batten down and rearrange
tossed in ebb and flow of ever-changing tide
i do not know my lovers
nor do I know my friends
we are points along a crooked line
in short distance and in fleeting time
dancing to a tune that sadly always ends
i know only of the moment
i know only of my heart
and those who choose to run the race
in an imposed practical restrictive space
will find themselves a universe apart
