Old, Lazy, & Fat
To descend into the hole
Of the old, lazy, and fat
Just let life wear you down
Until that’s where you’re at
When it all seems too hard
It’s a good time to give in
Better to let that waist go
Before you wear yourself thin
Take comfort and consolation
From the more experienced than you
Learn at the swollen club feet
Of those who fear instead of do
Find the message in the glimmer
Of dancing stars aligned in sky
Fix expectations to false promise
And just watch it all go by
Heed the prattle of the prophets
Who insist that everyone’s just great
While they pocket their concerns
And dare their own awaiting fate
Chant the collective mantra
Of the contrite and complacent
Making sure your every need
Is placed smart TV adjacent
Although wishing is hard work
It earns a long lingering nap
Bent wheels hobble and clatter
Round the same old spiraling lap
