Fish In The City

The fish tired of swimming in circles
He seemed to be getting nowhere
So he traded his fins for two legs
And decided to come up for air
He spotted palm trees in the distance
And he made his way toward land
Then squished his newly grown toes
Into the warm soft beachy sand
He noticed a strange new creature
Who went by the name of ‘man’
And secured himself a hiding place
In the back of this creature’s van
He disembarked in the big city
Where many former fish had spawned
And every one of them told him
How they longed for the good old pond
The lesson that this fish had learned
Was no one was going anywhere
You can just as easily drown in water
As you can when you come up for air
If every day we all have to battle
Life can seem like a long grueling war
We all drown in the same old question
What is it we're all fishing for?
