Does This Bus Have GPS?
Pedal to the metal straight into the ground
The gears were grinding noisily
Just trying to spin around
Then ‘she’ headed toward a cliff
And ‘he’ jumped off the bus
Both screaming to themselves
“What the fuck is wrong with us?”
An oval path ensured the scenery wouldn’t change
That ‘been here before’ feeling
Where the familiar meets the strange
Two started out somewhere
By grand design or compelled force
One abruptly changed direction
And blew the other one off course
One ‘he’ and one ‘she’ moving in their time
From two ends of a ladder
Trying to figure out the climb
Both eyeing vacant middle
One holding out a rope
Urging the other to ‘grab on”
Hearing “ Nah, don’t think so, nope”
Working on a bridge to cross their Rubicon
Each wishing, hoping, praying
That the other’s not yet gone
Two striving for new firsts
While often feeling last
In their struggle to reface
Unlucky die that life had cast
One advised the other to go seek better light
The other replied plaintively
“Your light is plenty bright”
Where will they both end up?
Is there any way to tell?
Just an unheard ding and dong
From one more unringing bell?
If the one you treasure isn't ready for you
Learn from what you share
Help see each other through
Lend an ear and be safe haven
Let the compassion you can bring
Help you be each other’s clapper
It’s what makes the BIG bell ring
