Look, Listen, Learn, Think
The river stops for no one
Its flow does not abate
Don’t place long shot bets
On uncanny twists of fate
A mountain in the distance
Soaring several miles high
Will still be here tomorrow
But, not so, you and I
Birds nursing broken wings
Might sing you a sad song
Asking for a caring glance
Until they heal and move on
The wisdom of the wounded
Could cause a soul to cry
Some choose not to listen
But, not so, you and I
Learning helps to formulate
The things that we believe
We discard what doesn’t work
Filter what we can’t conceive
Some impart their knowledge
Shedding light while going by
Others bury what they can
But, not so, you and I
Within life’s inverted spirals
We move like pixelated dots
Sometimes we brightly glow
Sometimes we’re darker spots
We’re part of the big picture
Comprising every shade of sky
Some don’t pay much notice
But, not so, you and I
